Taking premier travel hubs to new heights

Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services include contracts at airports and travel plazas throughout the United States. What began at Washington National Airport in 1939, has grown to include innovative concepts in food service and retail at many of the world’s premier travel hubs. Our leading-edge Gateway ConceptSM has attracted a variety of national and regional brands that help airports and travel plazas reflect the unique tastes and characteristics of their communities while serving as economic catalysts for their regions. Currently, our travel hospitality management group can be found working in the following travel hubs:

  • Austin-Bergstrom Airport – In keeping with Austin’s musical heritage, Delaware North introduced live music here in 1999 and it has grown from two to 11 shows each week at the Delaware North operated Ray Benson’s Roadhouse , Earl Campbell’s Sports Bar, and Austin City Limits/Waterloo Records & Video locations. Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services has also been recognized for its award-winning service at The Salt Lick Bar-B-Que. Austin‐Bergstrom International Airport marked its 5,000th live music performance recently with jazz musicians Silvie Rider and Red Young on the Asleep at the Wheel Stage at Ray Benson's Roadhouse. Delaware North helped bring the live‐music program to the airport and has supported it heavily through the years.
  • Buffalo Niagara International Airport – Delaware North brought the famous Anchor Bar – a tourist destination because of its standing as the birthplace of the Buffalo chicken wings – to the airport, as well as popular offerings such as the Blue Zone, Villa Italian Kitchen, Freshens, Checkers, the Lake Erie Pub, and Everything ASAP – Delaware North’s proprietary travel convenience store concept. Delaware North also brought the first-ever airport location of the popular sandwich shop Which Wich to BNIA.
  • Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport – A winner of the Airport Revenue News 2009 Best Airport Concessions Award, as well as the Airports Council International recognition for Airport Service Quality, Delaware North provides food and beverage services at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Concepts include Railhead BBQ, Einstein Bros. Bagels, 360° Gourmet Burrito and Fuddruckers, in addition to the more recent Salt Lick Bar-B-Que and Twisted Root Burger Co.
  • Denver International Airport – Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services provides a variety of local and national concepts in food and beverage at this acclaimed location, which has been recognized as a top-performing airport by the Airports Council International survey on Airport Service Quality. Some of the concepts include: Boulder Beer Tap House, Lefty’s Grille, Red Rocks Bar & BBQ, and Schlotzsky’s Deli.
  • Detroit Wayne County International Airport – Shortly before 2009, Delaware North opened the first-ever Sports Illustrated store here. In addition to numerous food and beverage offerings – such as Hockeytown Café, Michigania, and LePetit Bistro – the airport also features Delaware North’s proprietary retail concept, Everything ASAP, which was recognized by USA Today for its value and convenience items.
  • Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport –The highly acclaimed Sushi Maki and Red Mango, as well as regional favorites such as Pasha’s, Chef Allen’s Burger Bar, and Casa de Fresco, make this airport a destination in and of itself. In addition, Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services made history when it became the first airport concessionaire in the U.S. to have its operation registered to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 14001).
  • George Bush Intercontinental Airport – Delaware North’s travel hospitality management team has been serving the George Bush Intercontinental Airport since 1998; and in 2000, implemented an $11 million expansion to the airport’s food service offerings. Currently, our food and beverage concepts include brands such as Lefty’s Lonestar Grille, McDonalds, Chilis, Shipley Do-Nuts, The Grove, and Peet’s Coffee & Tea.
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) – The Encounter Restaurant, operated by Delaware North, was recognized as one of the best airport restaurants in the country, according to Food & Wine magazine. Other award-winning favorites include Pink’s Famous Hot Dogs and Wolfgang Puck Pizza Express. Also, Delaware North is working to bring the city’s most historic tourist and culinary attraction, LA’s Original Farmers Market, to Terminal 5 at LAX, as well as Skewers by Morimoto.
  • Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport – Delaware North has introduced several popular local restaurant concepts at the airport, including Acme Oyster House, Blue Bell Ice Cream –which is one of the top-selling brands in the country – Café Beignet, Austin Blues BBQ, Lucky Dogs, and the Praline Connection, in addition to numerous national brands like Subway, Popeye’s and Sonic.
  • Memphis International Airport – Delaware North’s travel hospitality management services group introduced locally inspired food and beverage concepts at Memphis International Airport. These include Memphis City Blues – a relaxing wine bar that features a large selection of wines, spirits and gourmet food – as well as Back Yard Burgers, Corky’s BBQ, Repicci’s Italian Ice, Rhythm’s Café & Bar, and Interstate BBQ.
  • Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport – Recognized by Airport Revenue News for having the best retail offerings, Delaware North operates proprietary concepts such as Everything ASAP and Gadgets 2 Go, in addition to national and regional brands, such as Harley-Davidson, Surdyk’s Flights, Rocky Mountain Chocolates, and Mall of America/Sports Minnesota.
  • Nashville International Airport – As part of Phase 1 of the A/B terminal renovation, Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services partnered with Transfare, Inc., for the 2011 grand opening of popular national brands Freshens, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, and Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs. Delaware North operated concepts include: Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, a celebrity favorite visited by Cher and Billy Joel, Whitt’s Barbecue, O’Charley’s, locally owned La Hacienda, and Swett’s – a Nashville favorite for over half a century.
  • Newark Liberty International Airport – Delaware North opened its first Heineken Lounge here in 2008, and now boasts one of the best airport bars in the country, according to ForbesTraveler.com. Services at the airport include food, beverage and retail concepts such as Guinness Pub, Vito’s Market, Sam Adams Bar, and Jake’s Coffee House.
  • New York State Thruway Travel Plazas – Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services operates four travel plazas along the New York State Thruway(Pembroke, Scottsville, Seneca and Clarence), bringing Delaware North hospitality to drivers through food and retail concepts such as Tim Hortons, Villa Pizza, Bananas and Everything ASAP.
  • Will Rogers World Airport – Located in Oklahoma, this airport features Delaware North’s travel hospitality management team developed its first Moe’s Southwest Grill location, along with The Salt Lick Bar-B-Que, Java Dave’s Coffee House, Schlotzsky’s Deli, Bar 1907, Route 66 Grille, Café Oklahoma, and Sonic. Coming soon is an outlet of the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
  • Ontario International Airport – The California airport features Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services' preferred coffee concept – The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The concept is known for its signature coffees, teas and Ice Blended® drinks. Other food and beverage concepts include Round Table Pizza, El Paseo Mexican Café, TGI Friday’s, and Schlotzsky’s Deli.
  • Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport – Deemed as having the best customer service and best concessions management team by Airport Revenue News, Delaware North services at this Phoenix airport include food and beverage concepts aimed at providing memorable experiences to travelers from around the world – such as Paradise Bakery & Café, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Round Table Pizza, Ocotillo Sun, and All Star Sports Bar.
  • Richmond International Airport – The Samuel Adams Brewhouse is one of the many food and beverage concepts that Delaware North operates at Richmond International Airport in Virginia, along with the Club Level Grill opened in 2011 – featuring an eclectic blend of sports history and 21st century technology. Others include Vito’s market, Applebee’s and Caribou Coffee.
  • Syracuse Hancock International Airport – Delaware North’s aviation relationship in Syracuse, N.Y., began in 1946 and is still growing strong today. Our travel hospitality services include food, beverage and retail concepts like the Gateway Cafe, featuring favorite regional brands such as Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Gianelli Sausage, New York Bakery, Saranac Beer and Saranac 1888 Soft Drinks, Bully Hill Vineyards, Paul Delima Coffee, and Terrell’s Potato Chips.

ForbesTraveler.com named Delaware North’s Heineken Lounge in Newark Liberty International Airport one of America’s best airport bars. The bar, which opened in 2008, is Heineken’s first branded luxury airport bar in the United States, and was recognized by ForbesTraveler.com for the lounge’s European “Club-like glamour,” mood lighting, trendy décor and, of course, Netherlands’ favorite beer on draft.
