A decade and a half ago, Delaware North took a novel approach to the business of providing travel hospitality in airports. The approch involved much more than simply managing airport concessions. We called it the Gateway ConceptSM and it revolutionized the food, beverage and retail offerings that we have come to expect when we travel.
Before the Gateway Concept, terminals were generic in nature. Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services saw in this an opportunity to transform them into portals that allow travelers to catch a glimpse of the sights, sounds and tastes awaiting them outside. We do it through strong and unique local and regional brands, by featuring the products of purveyors who are native to the area, and by celebrating the city’s culture in every way that we can.
Delaware North’s years-old approach to travel hospitality is alive and well in the industry, and in fact, has become the ideal. What this means is that because we created the Gateway Approach and have been doing it longer than our competitors, we can bring our travel clients what they want and need in a heartbeat.
Brands are key for us, and we have been working diligently not only on expanding our portfolio, but in adding the most innovative ones we know. Travel Channel, Food Network, Chef Morimoto and Hollywood’s world-famous Pink’s Hot Dogs are all new and exclusive members of Delaware North’s travel hospitality brand portfolio.
