Please turn off your cell phones. The scenery is distracting enough.
Next time you're planning a corporate meeting, consider one of Delaware North's properties. You'll find our staff ready to welcome your group with warm hospitality and all the supplies and technology you need for a successful session. And when the day is over, we'll show you that all work and no play is very dull indeed.
A picture-perfect day.
When the salad course was served at Juliet Gardner's wedding reception, she was the first to notice that each plate held a beet carefully cut into the shape of a heart. The gesture was not lost on her. As the conference coordinator for Asilomar Conference Grounds where her reception was held, she understood the tiny garnishments were a gift from Bill Bennett, Asilomar's then-executive chef, her co-worker and friend.
"Bill was fabulous. I know he went out of his way to give us 'extra touches' to make our wedding memorable, and it made a difference. I received so many compliments on the food," she said.
Juliet's dream of a seaside wedding reception was born when she joined the staff of Asilomar a year before her wedding. With a healthy mix of conference and leisure business, Asilomar had not ventured into weddings, but the beauty and uniqueness of Asilomar gave Juliet an idea for her day and a new opportunity for the property.
"I loved that I could have a formal, elegant wedding in a setting that was relaxed. The grounds are beautiful and Asilomar is rich with history. I thought, 'We do banquets. Why not weddings?'"
Juliet was on to something. While she was planning her reception, she was formulating a wedding contract and package to benefit other couples. Since then, Asilomar has become a popular choice for weddings, hosting more than 70 receptions a year, as well as outdoor ceremonies set against one of the most beautiful seascapes on the Pacific Coast.
