Delaware North Companies is one of the largest privately held companies in North America. The Jacobs family has privately held the company since 1915. Currently, there are no plans to take the company public.

What markets are you in and what are your plans for further expansion?

Delaware North Companies currently operates in food service, retail, gaming, hospitality, travel and sports industries in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Over the years, Delaware North Companies has had operations on virtually every continent, including Africa, Europe and Asia, including a large operation in Hong Kong and the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. In fact, Delaware North Companies held Joint Venture Certificate No. 00001 in the People’s Republic of China. Today, we carefully examine all opportunities to ensure they are consistent with our vision and mission for the future.

We are having our annual fund-raising dinner to support our local athletic team or not-for-profit-group. Could you help us with prizes or items to give away?

Supporting our communities has always been an important belief of Delaware North Companies. As you can imagine, we get thousands of requests each year and work to select those that meet our parameters. We only give consideration to those organizations that hold 501(C)(3) tax-exempt status. We are currently focusing our efforts on core needs such as housing, clothing and food in communities where Delaware North associates live and work.

In addition, the company donates millions annually to local not-for-profit organizations through its Delaware North Companies Sportservice community group program. The company donates a portion of the proceeds from concession stand sales at many of its operations across the United States. Groups can contact the Delaware North Companies Sportservice location in their communities for more information about how to be part of the volunteer program.

Delaware North is unable to provide support for individual gifts, religious or political purposes, capital campaigns, sponsorship advertising, research programs, endowments or any for-profit ventures.

Do you own properties or just manage them?

We do both. Delaware North Companies currently owns and operates several hotel properties, including Tenaya Lodge and Harrison Hot Springs Resort & Spa. In addition, we own and operate TD Banknorth Garden in Boston and a number of gaming destinations such as Wheeling Island® Hotel-Casino-Racetrack and Daytona Beach Kennel Club & Poker Room. On behalf of professional sporting teams, airport authorities, municipalities, gaming and racing clients, state and national park services and NASA, we manage many properties and have won numerous awards for our management expertise.

Where is the company’s worldwide headquarters?

As it has been since 1915, the company is headquartered in Buffalo, New York. The Jacobs family has maintained a firm commitment to the city for nearly a century. Currently, the company operates in a new office complex with sweeping views of Lake Erie and the Buffalo skyline.

Although the company’s headquarters is in Buffalo, our 50,000 associates work in some of the most memorable places on earth, including Wembley Stadium, Melbourne and Olympic Parks, Yosemite National Park, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and ballparks, airports and stadiums worldwide.
