In August 2011, Wheeling Island^SM Hotel-Casino-Racetrack was voted 17 First Place "Best of Gaming" awards by the readers of Casino Player Magazine. Wheeling Island took home awards for Best Overall Gaming Resort, Best Hotel, Best Casino, Best Rooms, Best Dealers, Best Hosts and Best Poker Tournaments, among other categories.

Also in August 2011, Jumer's Casino & Hotel was voted best in several categories by two separate magazine readers' polls.  Casino Player Magazine gave the venue 11 first-place awards and Travel Magazine awarded them with six more.
