Awards and Certificates

2009

For the second time in two years, Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts received an  Environmental Achievement Award from the National Park Service. This year’s award was given for the company’s recycling efforts in  Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Sequoia and Yellowstone national parks.

Delaware North Companies has made waves in the hospitality industry with its numerous environmental accomplishments. Under the guidance of the company’s environmental management system, GreenPath®, several Delaware North properties have been rewarded for the commitment to “green” business.

Delaware North became the first airport concessionaire to obtain International Organization for Standardization (ISO) registration when Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport earned the distinction.

Several other properties have achieved ISO 14001 recently including Southland Park Gaming & Racing, Progessive Field in Cleveland, Fairgrounds Gaming & Raceway and Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack. ISO develops voluntary technical standards that aim at helping businesses focus their environmental efforts.

Previously, Delaware North’s Daytona Beach Kennel Club & Poker Room became the first gaming property in the world to earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold certification. The property is also the first of any kind in Daytona Beach, Fla., to earn gold certification.

2008

Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts receives the Environmental Achievement Award, one of four environmental achievement awards given out by the National Park Service in 2008.  Delaware North was chosen for its recycling efforts in Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks.

Delaware North's operations in Yosemite and Yellowstone receive an honorable mention from the U.S. Department of the Interior for recycling efforts.

2007

Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Yosemite National Park receives an international award from IMEX for efforts aimed at staging environmentally friendly conferences.

Tenaya Lodge, a Delaware North-owned and-operated resort at the gateway to Yosemite National Park, earns a 2006 Platinum Choice Award from Smart Meetings publication. The property is selected by 30,000 readers and meeting professionals who looked at a pool of more than 1,000 locations throughout the United States and Canada.

Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Yellowstone receives a 2007 EcoStar Award for its efforts in preventing pollution in America's oldest National Park.

Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Sequoia National Park receives a Star of the Industry Award in Good Earthkeeping from the California Hotel & Lodging Association for its environmental efforts at Wuksachi Lodge.

2006

Asilomar Conference Grounds receives top "leadership level" ranking in the California Green Lodging Program from the California Integrated Waste Management Board.

NASA recognizes Delaware North's operation at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex with two Catch an Environmentalist awards.

NASA gives the Environmental and Energy Award to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

The WRAP (Waste Reduction Awards Program) award goes to Yosemite National Park from California Integrated Waste Board.
