Stewardship and hospitality in special places

Since 1993, when Delaware North began its first parks contract at Yosemite National Park in California, the company has grown to become one of the largest hospitality management companies serving national and state parks.

Delaware North has established a reputation with the National Park Service, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and other parks clients for providing high levels of both stewardship and hospitality in delivering lodging, retail, food service, recreation and transportation services at parks across the United States. In 2013, the company even expanded its own parks business – and national park lodging options – by developing the new Explorer Cabins just outside of Yellowstone National Park.

The company applies a slightly different brand of parks stewardship and hospitality in operating the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida for NASA, a significant undertaking in cultural attraction management.

Kings Canyon Park

With Delaware North taking over the National Park Service contract at Kings Canyon National Park in California in late 2013, the company now operates at 10 national and state parks.

“It may be the most successful hotel company you probably never heard of. It’s Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts, the Buffalo, N.Y.-based operator of 20 lodging properties with about 4,000 units mostly in or near national and state parks.”

Telling the Story

Interpretation is a key aspect of Delaware North’s stewardship of special places, and nowhere is that more evident than at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where the company displays and preserves NASA’s priceless space artifacts, including Space Shuttle Atlantis.
