Special spaces Down Under
From the underwater wonders of the Great Barrier Reef to the vast wilderness of the outback – this is where you will find Delaware North’s iconic Australian resorts.
Lizard Island is the most northern resorts on the Great Barrier Reef and with only 40 suites is one of Australia’s most exclusive resorts. The hour-long scenic flight from Cairns takes guests over the reef before landing in a unique piece of paradise.
Further south, Heron Island, affectionately known as ”Nature’s Wonderland,” is home to the Heron Island “Great Eight” – Clown Fish, Reef Shark, Logger Head and Green Turtles, Dolphin, Humpback Whales (June only), Manta Rays, Groper/Cod and the curious Maori Wrasse, all of which you are pretty much guaranteed of seeing.
Off the water and onto the rich redness of the central outback, Kings Canyon is an extraordinary place of ancient beauty and intrigue that dates back 440 million years. The Canyon is breathtaking, descending 300 metres into a lush garden, fondly called the Garden of Eden and to Kings Creek. This is truly the untamed never, never for which the Australian Red Centre is renowned.
In Western Australia, at the heart of the Kimberley – sprawling over 800,000 acres of outback wilderness – sits El Questro Wilderness Park, with its gorges, waterfalls, labyrinth of river systems, native flora and fauna and, of course, the iconic boab trees.
