The Arsenal Employability Project draws praise
Arsenal FC, for which Delaware North operates food service at Emirates Stadium in the United Kingdom, was recently recognised at the sixth annual European Club Association Awards for Best Community & Social Responsibility Programme.
The recognition came as a result of The Arsenal Employability Project, which includes efforts by Delaware North as an employer at the London Stadium.
“The Arsenal Employability Programme perfectly illustrates the force for good that clubs can have in their local communities,” said Marc-Andre Buchwalder, chair of the award panel. “The tailor-made approach, the continuous support through the recruitment process, the special relations developed with a range of employers and the tangible job outcomes make this a great example of an employability project that directly impacts lives of the participants and their families. With more than 300 people gaining employment as a direct result of the project, the Arsenal Employability Programme has proved very successful and I can only invite other clubs to get inspired by this successful CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) model.”
Added Simon Harrington, Delaware North’s business development and marketing director in the UK: “The award is an acknowledgment of a great partnership working and Arsenal FC thanked Delaware North for the significant contribution it has made to the project and for our important support.”
The European Club Association is a group of the 220 leading football clubs across 53 nations in Europe.
